Breakfast at Whispering Canyon Cafe

August 27, 2014

In June, I stayed at The Wilderness Lodge for the first time and loved it! My Mom, 14 month old son and I ate breakfast each day at Whispering Canyon Cafe located in the lobby of The Wilderness Lodge. This was also my first time eating at Whispering Canyon. It always amazes me that even though I have been to Disney 30+ times and lived/worked there for 6 months, that there are still things I have not done! Well after that first breakfast, we decided to eat there each morning and really enjoyed it!

The restaurant accepts the Disney Dining Plan and will cost you 1 table service credit for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The menu is American with a country feel. They are known for their all you can eat family style options and the ribs are a dinner time favorite. They also have a variety of healthier options.

The prices are a little less for breakfast and should be under $30 per person and lunch and dinner runs more like $15- $50 per person. Keep in mind that the higher prices are for the all you can eat options.

The food was delicious! Everything I ordered that week I loved! Below I have pulled my favorites from the menu on the Disney website!

Eggs Benedict

Poached Eggs on an English Muffin with Canadian Bacon and Barbecue-Hollandaise Sauce served with Western Home Fries

$11.99

Doc Willis’ Egg White Omelet

with Spinach, Goat Cheese, and Chipotle Pico served with fresh Fruit and a Biscuit

$11.99

My favorite thing about the restaurant was the servers. I had no idea there was a theme to the restaurant and the first day we noticed that the servers seemed very energetic! I don’t want to spoil the fun but if you do visit make sure to ask for ketchup! We also saw some guests get served with an extra large mug for a glass (like HUGE) and “security” getting called on another guest because of his “special order”. It was all in good fun and my son LOVED it! He especially loved “MJ” a server who would talk smack to everyone! He couldn’t get enough of her!

The service was great too! They were quick and the food was hot. We felt like eating there was faster than a food court which surprised us since you were getting a table service meal.

1900 Park Fare

September 6, 2012

Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

If you would like to dine with some of Disney’s famous characters and enjoy some wonderful food, I have the place for you!  1900 Park Fare restaurant is located in Walt Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. It offers breakfast and dinner Character buffets in an enchanting atmosphere.  The restaurant is decorated in Victorian era fair, with carousel horses and pastel colors.  “Big Bertha,” a large concert organ built in France, is mounted towards the ceiling of the large dining room and plays music while you are dining.

Mary Poppins at Disney

The Supercalifragilistic Breakfast is one of our favorite meals of every trip.  Your family will be joined by Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter, Tigger, and Winnie the Pooh.  Every character will come by your table at 1900 Park Fare to greet and welcome you.

There is a huge variety of breakfast foods, including, but not limited to pastries, breads, yogurt, fruit, eggs, made to order omelets, bacon, sausage, ham, cheesy scrambled eggs, lobster eggs benedict, potatoes… and my personal favorites, Mickey waffles and the chilled strawberry soup.  Make sure you are really hungry before you go to your breakfast at 1900 Park Fare because the options are plentiful and the food is delicious!

Cinderella’s Happily Ever After dinner is another great option for a Character meal.  While savoring your delectable dinner, you will have some magical moments with Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, and the evil stepsisters Anastasia and Drisella.  Don’t be surprised if you also see the Fairy Godmother or Suzy and Perla the mischievous mice.  You will definitely want to have your camera ready.

Your dinner at 1900 Park Fare will include, but again will not be limited to, salad, fruit, soup (chilled strawberry soup will be one of them- don’t miss it!), mashed potatoes, salmon, broccoli, corn, macaroni and cheese, pasta, prime rib, chicken masala, tortellini, brownies/cookies, and ice cream.

1900 Park Fare also hosts the Wonderland Tea Party in the afternoon for kids ages 4 to 12.  Your children will be served a special tea (apple juice) to sip on while they enjoy games, stories and cupcakes.  Not only will your children be able to pose for pictures with Alice and Mad Hatter, they will also decorate their own cupcakes and create some imaginative take-home crafts.

It is a quick monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom to 1900 Park Fare, so I recommend making an Advanced Dining Reservation on a day you will be spending time at the Magic Kingdom.  Yes, that is right…You need to make this reservation early!

1900 Park Fare presents a whimsical dining experience with some classic Disney characters.  The food is great, but the Character interaction is priceless.

“Making Magic One Vacation at a Time…”

Disney Character Dining

September 5, 2012

Whether it’s a first trip or an annual tradition, when it comes to Walt Disney World, a character meal is almost always on the horizon.  Let’s face it – Disney Character Dining a fantastic way to enjoy a meal while having some face time with Mickey and the gang.  But which meal, and where?

character meal

One of the most popular Disney Character Dining choices is always breakfast or dinner at Chef Mickey’s in the Contemporary resort.  You get the big five (Mickey and Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto) dressed in chef whites while at the same time enjoying one of the legendary buffets, a highly entertaining floor show, AND it’s all just steps away from Magic Kingdom.  The downsides to this particular meal?  Longer than average wait times, whether you’ve got reservations or not – and this is one of the meals that fills up practically the moment it opens for reservations; also, it’s a very crowded, busy establishment and just not, well, magic in the way of atmosphere.  But a little bonus is that your family’s photo is taken upon entry and you have the option to buy the photos before you leave.

Another big hit for Disney Character Dining is Crystal Palace on Magic Kingdom’s Main Street USA, where Pooh and friends (Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet) play host to breakfast, lunch or dinner and what’s truly a fantastic buffet no matter which meal you choose.  The atmosphere is much more “magical” here than Chef Mickey due to the beautiful surroundings and table visits from the characters.  Price is about the same, and here’s a secret benefit: breakfast reservations can be booked even earlier than the park opens, so guests are allowed in to a practically empty Magic Kingdom and that makes for fantastic photo opps!
