Remember Dreams Come True at Disney

February 18, 2013

July 17, 2005 marked the 50th anniversary of Disneyland.  Celebrations were held honoring the creator and magic that started it all- Walt Disney.  Sleeping Beauty Castle was decorated into lovely gold crowns with the 50th anniversary sign while Space Mountain made its re-launch just a couple of days before the big day.  But what took the 50th anniversary by the Disney magic was a new firework show- Remember Dreams Come True.

Remember Dreams Come True

Remember Dreams Come True celebrates the history of Disney and Disneyland from the classic films of Peter Pan, Aladdin, Cinderella, and the best part- Disney rides!  ”Is this room actually stretching, or is it just your imagination?”  ”Can I possibly survive?”  You hear the familiar sounds of the Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, Indiana Jones Adventure, among other famous rides that take our hearts away and that we remember as lifetime experiences that you can only experience at Disneyland!

Special effects such as fire and Tinker Bell flying from the Matterhorn add extra awe amazement to our eyes believing that magic does exist!  Let’s not forget Star Wars!  The iconic film which has been inspired to turn into Star Tours sends green lasers shooting out from around the park as guests hear the audio of the climax scene of starship speeders fighting the evil forces from the Death Star.  ”I have you now!”  Julie Andrews takes us through the narrative as we live Disneyland history.  There are so many great memories in Remember Dreams Come True!

amazing rainbow colors of Disney balloons Fantasmic!, ice cream, and a Mickey Mouse toy may put smiles on people’s faces.  However, not most think of balloons until they see those beautiful glowing colors!  If you’re not in the mood for changing colors, guests can instead buy a traditional Disney balloon that is shaped into a Mickey on the inside of a second clear balloon and has no lighting.  These balloons come in a variety of colors such as blue, green, purple, red, etc.  What color would you want?

Halloween at Disney

During the Halloween season, guests are given a treat when the Disney balloons go from Mickey to Jack Skellington!  As a tribute to the Haunted Mansion Holiday, fans can get their own Jack Skellington balloon.  The balloon contains Skellington’s big black eyes and a stitched mouth that always gives you a smile no matter what.  On the back side of Skellington’s face, the words ”Haunted Mansion Holiday” are surrounded by several bats highlighting the main attraction of the Halloween and Holiday seasons!

At Tokyo Disneysea, fans of Lilo and Stitch can purchase Stitch balloons!  Japan has received Stitch with open arms and has become a huge icon in the Japanese culture among many fans.  So if the cute alien has conquered the many hearts in Japan, why not have a Stitch balloon?  These are just a few of the diverse balloons Disney theme parks have.  All Disney balloons come in different shapes, colors, and sizes.  Even though the balloons are all different, they do have one thing in common- to put a smile on your face!  So when you head out to the parks for this summer, make sure you take a moment to see these wonderful Disney balloons bundled up together and/or lighting up the evening skies just down on Main Street!

Disney’s Pirate’s Lair

February 12, 2013

Deep in Tom Sawyer Island, the ghosts of pirates’ past lurk in the shadows of caves.  Enter the caves to learn about the pirates who once roamed the beaches and other secret hide outs in search of their buried treasure.  Tom Sawyer Island has itself become the getaway for pirate fanatics after Pirates of the Caribbean.  This getaway was transformed into Pirate’s Lair in 2007 following the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean films.

Tom Sawyer Island

Pirate fans walk into Dead Man’s Grotto where their eyes of gold stare at the ”dead men’s chest”, a special treasure guarded well by Davy Jones!  Just outside Dead Man’s Grotto, guests can have a little fun with some games!  One highlight of this is trying to search for hidden treasure chests around the island.  Just somewhere on Pirate’s Lair, there is a special spot where, if you are good enough at the game, you can pull out a sunken treasure chest from under the water.

Davy Jones

The poor wrecked boat has let the treasure fall onto the bottom floor.  Do sea creatures have the ability to guard treasures on the sandy floors?  According to this situation, if you think you can get your hands on that chest, think again!  Someone is not letting go of it and that’s the surprise you ”pull” out when you see that a skeleton is still holding onto the chest as it gets dragged out from the water.  You didn’t see that coming, did you?  Apparently, whoever that pirate was, he is not giving you his treasure, even if it means claiming it after the death!  Let’s just say this skeleton in Disney’s Pirates Lair does not believe in ”til death do us apart” with his beloved treasure!

The chest only belongs to that fella and he will hold onto it for eternity.  It looks like pirates do believe in the afterlife of holding onto their treasure.  It’s okay if you’re left empty-handed, might as well respect those past pirates.  However, in Dead Man’s Grotto you can always try your luck at getting your hands on treasure again.  Located inside, there’s an area where you just have to slide your hand under to claim the treasure that ”appears” there.  But, oh, wait!  Pirates sure know how to fool one by pulling a magic trick of their own!  Disney’s Pirates Lair is the perfect example!  Now you see it……now you don’t!  ”Dead men tell no tales”!
