Today the spotlight shines on Mary Vaughan from Upstate NY!

Where are you from? Upstate NY – Binghamton area.

First memory of Disney? Well I was in my mom’s belly on my very first visit but from what I understand she had a great time. My first memory and it’s something that still gives me chills to this day is walking into Magic Kingdom and smelling the air (because nothing smells as good as Disney) and seeing that castle.

What makes Disney MAGICAL in your eyes? To me Disney means Happy and being Happy is Magical. The extra touches, the customer service, the ability for Disney to evolve throughout the years is all Magical and keeps me and my family always wanting to go back.

Favorite Disney destination and why? Disney World is my favorite because even though I’ve been 45+ times I still haven’t done it all. I love still being able to try something new when I go whether it’s dining, a show, or a ride it’s all part of the excitement in planning.

Favorite Disney Character and why? Mickey! He is timeless, classic and represents all that is Disney. Specifically it’s fun to see him at the Meet and Greet at Town Hall. I don’t want to give away all the surprises but make sure you are ready to video tape it.

Favorite Disney Attraction and why? Tower of Terror and Soarin’ are a tie for me. I love the suspense Tower of Terror has with different drop sequences chosen at random so it keeps the ride fresh and terrifying and you just can’t ride without screaming. Soarin’ – I mean who doesn’t love a ride that people actually clap for when it’s over.

Favorite Disney Resort and why? Beach Club. The location is amazing with being able to walk to Epcot and boat to Hollywood Studios and the pool is the best on Disney property. I also enjoy being able to walk around the Boardwalk in the evening- it’s so beautiful all lit up.

Favorite Disney Restaurant and why? Dinner at Be Our Guest. Besides being in Beast’s castle and the ambiance the food is fantastic! This place isn’t impossible to book for no reason….but that’s why you hire me to help!

Favorite Disney Quick Service Restaurant and why? Captain Cook’s – Disney’s Polynesian Resort. The menu at Captain Cook’s is also incredibly varied and made-toorder including some unique cupcakes, plus Tonga Toast for breakfast and they have Dole Whip! Sold!

3 Disney characters you’d like to have dinner with and why? Olaf, Joy, and the Genie. I love to laugh and that would be a pretty hysterical dinner…and just maybe Genie would grant me 3 wishes!

Favorite Disney snack and why? The Cronut at Epcot’s Refreshment Port of course! (referred to there at the Croissant Doughnut)

Favorite Disney Movie and why? That’s really hard to pick one but Enchanted and Frozen get me with the music and storyline. Cranking Let it Go in the car with my kids is the best.

3Favorite Disney Songs and why? “How does she know?”, “Let it Go” and “Yo Ho Yo Ho a Pirates Life for Me!” I dare you not to sing along with any of those!

Disney character you’re most similar to and why? I would have to say Anna, from Frozen. Like her I am optimistic, see the good in people and am fiercely loyal to those closest to me.

If you could be one Disney mascot for a day who would it be and why? Mickey! He IS Disney, it would be so fun to see the joy on adult’s and kid’s faces alike as they see you.

If you could work at one of the Disney theme parks, what job would you want and why? I would love to work at Animal Kingdom with the animals. As an animal lover the experience of getting to work with such exotic and spectacular animals would be a dream come true. After having done some of the behind the scenes tours that are offered you really get a sense of all the hard work that goes into animal care and how much the staff truly loves what they do.  I also think being a dancer in the parades at Magic Kingdom would be so fun…and what a good workout!
