Animal Kingdom Lodge (Jambo House) — A Resort Review

February 28, 2012

Disney has some great resorts in every price category, but today’s blog post is going to focus on our family’s favorite—the Animal Kingdom Lodge.  It is a deluxe level resort, but with a price that usually falls between that of the moderate resorts and the other deluxe resorts.  In fact, the Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge have many similarities, one of them being that they are the least expensive deluxe resorts on property.  But, I feel that even if the price were as high as other Disney deluxe resorts, it’d still be worth the price!

African Theme Resort at Disney

The first thing you notice when you enter Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is its expansive and impressive lobby!  The resort has a beautiful African theme throughout and the lobby has so many pieces of art, bits of storytelling, and tons of charm.  There is even a small fire pit right in the lobby area.  And as you gaze through the giant window across from you, you can already catch glimpses of wildlife!

Disney Moderate Resorts – A Great Choice

February 23, 2012

After looking over the Value resorts you may decide you want a little more space, a more relaxed atmosphere and a few more amenities.  The Disney Moderate Resorts could be for your family.  With some rooms having space for up to 6 people, beautifully decorated surroundings and table service restaurants this could be the place for your family to enjoy.

The Disney moderate resort category has 5 different hotels to choose from: Disney’s Port Orleans-French Quarter, Disney’s Port Orleans-Riverside, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Coronado Springs, and The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness all offer wonderfully affordable locales.  Let’s take a look and see which resort best fits your family.

Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort

On our recent trip to Walt Disney World we stayed at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter.  This resort is by far my favorite moderate resort. Located along the Sassagoula River, Port Orleans is actually 1 large property, divided into 2 distinct sections.  Port Orleans Riverside, designed to feel like Louisiana and the old south, with beautiful antebellum mansions and bayou buildings representing the  sleepy towns along the Mississippi River.  It is a gorgeous sprawling resort.
