Hi! My name is Karen Van Riper!

I am so excited to be working with MickeyTravels to help travelers plan their memory-filled Disney Vacation! I live in Dutchess County New York with my husband and our two daughters and we absolutely love taking trips to Disney World!

I took my first trip to Disney World as a teen with my family and we had the best time! So when my then boyfriend, now husband, wanted to plan a trip together we immediately chose Disney World as our destination. Our trip as young 20 somethings was such a different experience from my family trip but equally as full of fun and memories. Dinner at the elegant Victoria & Albert’s was a highlight of that trip! Before we even left I knew we would be back!

Fast-forward and we are now a family of four. Our girls have always been fans of all things Disney, so a trip to Walt Disney World was destined to be a hit! At the time of their first trip, they were just 2 and 5. It was such an incredible vacation, we knew there would be no other destination on their list for family vacations. We have traveled to Disney World just about every other year for the past 10 years. With so many resorts to choose from and updates taking place at the parks, each trip is its own exciting new experience. We started off searching out princesses and fairies, moved on to searching out more adventurous rides, did a runDisney race, and now we plan around how to conquer every rollercoaster and thrill ride as we park hop to as many parks as we can in one day! All the while deciding where to have the best dining experiences!

I have a masters degree in elementary education and worked as a teacher. My experience in teaching made me a detail-oriented planner. Now as a stay at home mom, I do my best to maximize experiences while staying within a budget, helpful qualities when planning a big trip. I often joke that I enjoy planning our vacations as much as we enjoy taking them. Because of this, I have become the Disney resource to my family and friends. I hope you allow me to do the research for you so we can find the best vacation to fit your needs. Whether a trip to Walt Disney World in Florida, a trip to Aulani on the beautiful island of Oahu, or a cruise aboard one of Disney Cruise Line’s impressive vessels I am here to assist you in planning every step of the way.
