Top 7 Places to Get Breakfast in Disney World

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and that’s especially true when you’re fueling up for a big day at the Walt Disney World parks. But with more than 200 dining options on Disney’s property, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed when decided where to enjoy a meal. I’ve narrowed down the list to my top 7 restaurants for breakfast in Walt Disney World.

Top 7 Places to Get Breakfast in Disney World (in no particular order since every restaurant on this list is unique and amazing!)

Kona Cafe

Kona takes the (pan)cake simply for their Tonga Toast (although there are quite a few unique and tasty dishes served here). What’s Tonga Toast, you ask? Tonga Toast is banana-stuffed sourdough French toast rolled in cinnamon sugar and served with strawberry compote and your choice of ham, bacon, or sausage. Now, I might have a slight obsession with cinnamon, but this sweet, buttery confection is a favorite among many loyal Disney World guests. Other unique dishes include the Macadamia-Pineapple Pancakes and The Samoan, poached eggs with hollandaise served over smoked pulled pork hash. Kona Cafe is located within the Polynesian Resort.

Another great restaurant located in the Polynesian Resort is ‘Ohana. ‘Ohana is popular for their all-you-can-eat family-style bowls of breakfast foods brought straight to your table, including Disney’s famous Mickey shaped waffles. If you haven’t tried these soft golden waffles, make sure it’s on your to-do list for your next trip! The character interaction also makes ‘Ohana a great choice for families with children. Mickey, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch keep children entertained throughout the meal and the delectable sausage, bacon, and island-style potatoes keep adults coming back for more.

Crystal Palace

I will let you in on a little secret. If you book an early breakfast reservation at Crystal Palace, you will get early entry into the Magic Kingdom and can take some amazing photos on Main Street and in front of Cinderella’s Castle with virtually no other people around. This fact is what makes Crystal Palace an excellent option for breakfast. Of course the beautiful decor, character interaction with Winnie the Pooh and friends, and tasty buffet choices and made-to-order omelets help make Crystal Palace a must-see for breakfast on your next Disney trip.

Chef Mickey’s

There is something special about dining with the one and only Mickey Mouse and his pals dressed in their chef outfits. Chef Mickey’s, located inside Disney’s Contemporary Resort, offers a great experience for both breakfast and dinner with its sprawling buffets and panoramic views. You can catch a glimpse of Cinderella’s Castle and Tomorrowland from Chef Mickey’s and quickly walk or ride the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom after your meal for a day of fun.

Since Boma is not a character meal, you won’t pay as much to dine there. But make no mistake, this restaurant is still worth a visit for the shear variety of the buffet and exotic African decor.  Located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Resort, Boma serves up vibrant, flavorful options from Africa as well as American favorites. It is a great place to start your day with a cup of full-bodied Kenyan coffee and an all-you-can-eat buffet. Many call Boma their favorite Disney restaurant for any meal, and it’s one to try out for breakfast if you’ve never eaten there.

Tusker House

Tucked deep within the Animal Kingdom lies Tusker House, a favorite among Disney diners for its incredible theming and attention to detail. Designed to resemble an open-air African market, Tusker House features African artifacts, vibrant colored draped fabrics, and a buffet filled with African and American dishes. Donald, Goofy, and Mickey delight guests in their safari gear and booking an early reservation here gets you into Animal Kingdom before the crowds arrive. Don’t forget to try the Jungle Juice!

Cape May Cafe

For a laid-back, beachy vibe, head on over to the Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. Typically less crowded than other character meals, Cape May Cafe pleases kids and adults alike with its excellent service, traditional American breakfast foods, and an above average character intereations with Goofy and friends donned in colorful swimwear, where many guests will tell you that the characters here spend more time at tables than at other character meals. Cape May Cafe is also just hop, skip, and a jump away from EPCOT so guests can walk right over to the World Showcase entrance of EPCOT after enjoying a fun breakfast at Cape May Cafe.
