All of Disney Cruise Line’s sailings offer wonderful character meet and greets! If you are used to greeting characters at Disney World or Disneyland, you’ll be pleasantly surprised on the cruise ships how much shorter the lines are and how much more relaxed the greetings feel. The characters have a little more time to spend with each family and sometimes you’ll even run into a character in the lobby, on a deck, walking through hallways, etc. and they are usually great about stopping for a short chat unless they are on their way to a Greeting.
Be sure to bring your autograph book or any item you’d like autographed like a t-shirt (not on your body!), a pillowcase, or even a photo mat. And here’s the tricky thing, try to bring those with you, along with your camera, of course, whenever you are out and about on the ship! You never know who you will run in to! Our family ran into Goofy on the stairs one afternoon and he was thrilled to show my kids how he likes to ride down the handrails on the stairs!
You can check your Personal Navigator (daily schedule that you receive each evening for the following day’s activities) and find a list of where certain characters will be and when. Although they are subject to change, here are some of the characters you can expect to see:
Mickey Mouse
Minnie Mouse
Donald Duck
Daisy Duck
Chip & Dale
Goofy
Pluto
Max
Captain Hook
Peter Pan
Lilo
Stitch
Cinderella
Belle
Snow White
Princess Aurora
Princess Tiana
Ariel
Captain Jack Sparrow
Dopey
Jake the Pirate
You may want to take home a framed picture of your family on formal night with Mickey in his tuxedo or a pic of your kiddos with Jack Sparrow on Castaway Cay so if you forget your camera, cruise photographers are always on hand to snap a pic that you can purchase later on in your cruise. Pics are pricey, but make a really great souvenir!
There are lots of reasons to choose a Disney cruise, but character lovers have MANY reasons!!

Are you thinking about taking your family on a Disney Cruise? The good news is there is so much to do and experience for kids and adults of all ages! Every night of every sailing on a Disney cruise will feature evening entertainment. But make sure you note which nights feature one of Disney’s live Broadway style stage shows! These are not to be missed! The shows are spectacular and everyone will appreciate their high quality talent and storylines. Kids and adults alike will enjoy the fun and funny (and often touching, as well!) shows.
On the Disney Dream, you can enjoy Disney’s Believe, Golden Mickey’s, and Villains Tonight (don’t worry—it’s funny, not scary!)
On the Disney Fantasy, you can enjoy Disney’s Believe, Aladdin—A Musical Spectacular, and Disney Wishes.
On the Disney Magic, you’ll find Villains Tonight, Let the Magic Begin, Disney Dreams, Remember the Magic, and Twice Charmed—A Cinderella Story.
On the Disney Wonder, you’ll enjoy Let the Magic Begin, Disney Dreams, Toy Story—A Musical, and The Golden Mickey’s.
These are subject to change and not all shows may be available on every sailing. Shows on a Disney cruise are generally presented at 6:15 and 8:30 pm each evening and they last almost an hour.
When you are on board the ship, it’s easy to relax at the pool or in the dining room and forget to check the time, but these shows are worth setting your watch or phone alarm for! You won’t be disappointed!

I recently took my son to Disney World at the age of 7 months. I learned so much about all aspects of taking a child to Disney and would love to share some of my packing tips!
Getting there besides all the normal baby essentials in the diaper bag, I recommend the following:
Garbage bags- you can use these as an extra layer to place down on those germy changers in airports or on the road
Disposable bibs- easy and cheap, one less thing to clean
Baby food in plastic containers- easy and don’t have to worry about breakage
Disposable utensils- again easy
Nursing cover (if you nurse)
Binky- even if your child isn’t a huge binky fan the extra sucking eases the ear pain on a flight
For the room:
Packnplay sheet- Disney will provide you with a packnplay and also a sheet, but I like to use my own
Lysol- spray down the packnplay and if you are me, everything else
Large blanket- you know your little one will want to explore, place it on the floor to keep them off the carpet
Bedtime books- reading a few familiar stories at night helps in a new place
At the parks:
Items from the “getting there” list
Reclining umbrella stroller- we had the chicco echo. You will want an easy to fold stroller for the buses, but will also want the recline option for naps at the park.
Toys that attach to stroller- this was a LIFESAVER! Keep your child entertained in the stroller or high chair without them throwing the toys on the ground/floor
Hat/sunscreen it is Florida!
Clothes that can layer- the air conditioning can get chilly and depending on the season you may go from shorts to a jacket in the same day
Autograph book with slots for pictures- even at 7 months my son loved the characters and even playing with the book at the character dinners
Camera- many use their phones, but this will kill your battery and you may miss something! I always bring a camera in addition to my phone
