Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort

August 17, 2012

All aboard!!! With summer in full stream, tourists are still heading out to the white sandy beaches. However, at Walt Disney World, some guests get that same beach feeling experience at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort.

Stormalong Bay

The architecture of the Disney Yacht & Beach Club is styled to a New England feeling and even has a small touch of Long Beach’s Shoreline Village. The light blue and white colors provide a tranquility feeling and dreams of riding on ocean voyages! When guests walk into their rooms, they can see the influences of a sailor’s life such as hanging portraits of boats, blue and white bed sheets, striped blue/white bathroom walls, and illuminated lamps like from the lighthouses.

For the ”Captains”, there are desks where they can sit and catch up on any sailing news or just read Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island to let the time pass!  The rooms may not have a ship wheel but check your bed and one is there on the headboard!  You can just imagine placing your head on the pillow of the bed and ”sailing” away into your dreams as you control that wheel ship!  These ship wheels can usually be found in the rooms that contain double beds.

CyberSpace Mountain at Disney

August 16, 2012

Have you ever wanted to design a roller coaster?  If you were to create a roller coaster, where would you create it?  What title would you give it and what would be the story behind the attraction?  At Disney Quest in Downtown Disney in Orlando, CyberSpace Mountain allows guests to create their own roller coaster.

Disney Quest

The cool side to this unique attraction, CyberSpace Mountain?  Guests can virtually ride their roller coasters via a special simulator!  Now is the time to put on your Disney Imagineering cap!  In this virtual ride, guests get access to special computers where you create your coaster. On the computers, thrill junkies are introduced to various layouts for the coaster design.  On the screen, three different worlds are on display to choose from as the setting for your roller coaster.  Guests can then choose different tracks to customize their ride among other special features.  With just a few tools, riders can begin building their roller coasters from scratch adding ”sharp turns, sudden drops, and stops”.  Once the track is completed, guests are taken to the main area where they enter the simulators.

The simulators are shaped in a cylindrical fashion and accommodates two guests per simulator.  The thrill junkies step into the simulator and strap on with shoulder safety restraints ready for an out of this world adventure!  Just like the title itself, riders can recognize the loading dock they see on the screen in front of them from Space Mountain.  They also see their entire roller coaster creation laid out before their very own eyes!  Now that you created it, let’s give it a test run!  Once you depart from the loading dock you are immersed into the far reaches of space as you ride down on what you just created!  Watch out for those inversions because you will feel yourself lift from the seat as you experience those ”g-forces”!  Building a roller coaster is challenging enough, but to create a virtual roller coaster is the next generation of roller coaster design!  With the Disney magic, at CyberSpace Mountain you dream up your roller coaster like a pro and ride it!  No experience required.  Stand by…

Disney’s Electrical Water Pageant

August 15, 2012

Every night just on the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake, a spectacle comes on to delight the guests who may not be at the parks during that time.  Disney’s Electrical Water Pageant Light Show illuminates the lake as guests watch from the distance.  This water show is very similar to the famous Main Street Electrical Parade because of its colorful lighting style.  Tiny colorful lights reveal animals and characters such as King Neptune.

Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake

Just a couple of the animals that are part of Disney’s Electrical Water Pageant are jumping fish and a smiling octopus that glows bright red.  Now, if Captain Hook were to find himself on this lake with his ship or even just standing from the distance, he better run because Croc is here!  The crocodile illuminates to a bright green and opens his mouth ready for any prey to land into his stomach including the Captain!  Like they say, ”never smile at a crocodile”!
