MickeyTravels Agent Virtual Meet & Greet – Stacy Conrad

August 19, 2014

MickeyTravels is excited about our new initiative – The MickeyTravels Agent Virtual Meet & Greet. We will feature a different MickeyTravels agent on a daily basis. We’re proud to have the best Disney Travel agents in the world as part of our MickeyTravels team and this will allow you to get to know them even better. Today the spotlight shines on Stacy Conrad from Louisiana!

Name: Stacy Conrad

Where are you from? I am from South Texas, but transplanted to the Louisiana Gulf Coast

First memory of Disney? My first memory of Disney was our family’s first road trip in 1978. It took 2 days and I remember the excitement. Once we arrived, we entered the park, I nearly ran into Robin Hood, The Fox and was terrified, but the fear soon turned to excitement when I stood on Main Street and looked up. The castle was more beautiful and magical than I could have ever imagined. Returning year after year, I must say the feeling never goes away.

What makes Disney MAGICAL in your eyes? Being able to shut the world out and with family in a setting like no other, where the line between fantasy and reality is a blur.

Wilderness Lodge

Favorite Disney destination and why? Hands down, Walt Disney World because it brings me back to my childhood.

Favorite Disney Character and why? Ariel is my absolute favorite character because I feel as though I can relate to her story. She overcame so many obstacles and never let anything hold her back from her dreams. She was strong and passionate about what she wanted.

Epcot

Favorite Disney Attraction and why? It’s a Small World. It’s a classic. It has been my favorite since I was a small child and will always be.

Favorite Disney Resort and why? Wilderness Lodge is my favorite resort. After a long day at the parks, it is so nice to walk into Wilderness Lodge, sit in a rocking chair in front of the fireplace or the geyser in the lobby and feel like you are at a secluded resort in the mountains. It’s like two vacations in one!

Favorite Disney Restaurant and why? Be Our Guest, not only for the atmosphere, but the excitement trying to get the reservation to the food. It is amazing!

book vacation

Favorite Disney Quick Service Restaurant and why? Tangerine Cafe in Epcot is my favorite quick service restaurant because Greek food is my weakness.

3 Disney characters you’d like to have dinner with and why? Ariel, Alice and the Stepsisters. Have you ever met them? They are hilarious. It would definitely be an entertaining meal.

Favorite Disney snack and why? Dole Whip! Is there anything else?

Favorite Disney Movie and why? The Little Mermaid because Ariel is my favorite!

Disney Virtual Meet & Greet

3 Favorite Disney Song and why? It’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow, one of my favorite rides. Main Street USA, no matter where I am in the world, when I hear “Im walkin right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A.” I stop whatever I am doing and am instantly standing right in front of the castle. It’s a Small World, because it truly is a small, small world.

Disney character you’re most similar to and why? That depends on the day of the week and who you ask.

If you could be one Disney mascot for a day who would it be and why? Cinderella! She is an original!

If you could work at one of the Disney theme parks, what job would you want and why? Animal Kingdom as a performer in The Festival of the Lion King, my favorite show at Disney.

Disney World travel agent

Best part about being a MickeyTravels Disney Travel Agent? There are so many things I love about my job, but the overwhelming feeling of joy I get when my clients send me updates from their vacations and tell me that they couldn’t have done it without me truly tops the cake.

Why should I book my vacation with you? Having traveled to Disney World since the mid-70s, I grew up with Disney. I watched parks and resorts being built from the ground up. I am passionate about my clients vacations and handle them as if they were my own. I don’t keep office hours and am always available for my clients. Best of all, I handle as much or as little of your vacation as you wish and will make sure that it is more than magical.

Feel free to reach out to Stacy with any questions or comments. Stacy can be reached at stacy@mickeytravels.com or 337-849-3937. She can also be found on our website at www.mickeytravels.com/stacy

The Disneyland Difference – A Walk in the Park!

April 17, 2014

Like most people living on the East Coast I’ve visited Walt Disney World in Florida… um, several times…ok, more like a dozen and a half times. I’ve done the 18+ hour drive more often than the 2 hour flight, but I’m crazy like that. I can’t get enough of those four glorious theme parks, two outstanding water parks, enormous Downtown Disney area, and perhaps best of all the amazing variety of resorts – none of them ever a disappointment!

I’m different than many of my fellow Disney nuts from the I-95 corridor in that I’ve been to Disneyland Resort in California a bunch of times as well, thanks mostly to my sister who lives just about an hour away from Anaheim. Going regularly to the two Disney Resorts in the USA has opened my eyes to both the big and little differences between these two parks. Plenty of debates have been made of which is better, but really they are just different. In this series I’ll highlight some of the things I love about Disneyland that are different than Walt Disney World.

Downtown Disney

The biggest and best thing that Disneyland has over Walt Disney World is the fact that everything is close together. Walt Disney himself lamented how disappointing it was to have such limited space and made very sure the “Florida Project” did not have that problem. But where Mr. Disney found frustration many guests, myself included, are delighted. Why? Because it’s so EASY! Easy to walk (yes, folks walk) from one park to another and to Downtown Disney… and usually your resort. A short walk gets you from Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland to Buena Vista Street in Disney’s California Adventure. Park Hopping could not be easier than it is in California.

Buena Vista Street

Have you ever stayed at Disney’s Contemporary or Bay Lake Towers and were able to take the 10-minute path to the Magic Kingdom? Or stayed in the Boardwalk area and walked to Epcot? You wouldn’t believe how amazingly easy it feels to get around everywhere by foot in Disneyland! This is especially true for those of us who have done these trips with small children and strollers. No busses to fold the strollers up and a short walk from the park to your hotel room makes naptime a breeze to keep… as long as you can pull yourself away from the fun!

Both Disneyland and Walt Disney World are beloved to me and I’m glad I don’t have to select just one to go to. We have another family trip to Disneyland planned for this December and will be back to Walt Disney World a few months after that. Now if I can just get my other sister to move near Disneyland Paris or Tokyo Disneyland…

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

March 7, 2014

Looking for a great resort to stay in while you take your family on a vacation to Walt Disney World?  You can take in waterfront views and the sounds of the boardwalk from the comfort of your own oasis at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn.

Just walking distance from Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s BoardWalk is the perfect getaway location. The lights of the Coney-Island style resort area are beautiful reflecting on Crescent Lake as you take an evening bike ride along the water. If this sounds like paradise, this summer themed resort is the place for you and your family.

Hollywood Studios

A unique feature of Disney’s Boardwalk Inn is the carnival theme pool park, complete with roller coaster water slides, whirlpool spa, and elephant trunk kiddie pools. Visit any part of Luna Park Pool and you’ll be sure to find fun for all ages. Close by to the pool area is a playground for kids and the Fantasia Gardens and Miniature Golf Course. If recreation on your Disney vacation is what you seek, BoardWalk Inn is the place to stay and play! Join in on the fun at a nighttime camp fire, movies under the stars, fishing, tennis, arcade games, and more!

Fantasia Gardens Disney

My favorite feature of the BoardWalk area is the bike rentals and biking, walking, and jogging paths. Adult and children size bikes are available on a first come, first serve basis. All bicycles come with a complimentary helmet and child seats if necessary and many children’s bikes come with training wheels. Even rent a surrey bike for 2, 4, or 6 passengers for an adventure for the whole family! Take a ride or walk on smooth paths through luscious gardens and quiet canals for a peaceful afternoon.
