  • Discover your resort.  There are swimming pools, game rooms, restaurants and more at each of the Disney resort hotels. You’ll also find activities for the family to enjoy such as outdoor movies, renting bicycles, carriage rides and more!
  • Take a trip over to Downtown Disney.  Enjoy some shopping, grab a bite to eat, get tickets ahead of time for Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba.

  • Head over to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge for a Campfire Sing-A-Long with Chip and Dale.
  • Take a ride on the monorail and discover other resorts.  Hop on another monorail line and cruise on over through Epcot.  End the evening on the beach of  Disney’s Polynesian Resort and enjoy Wishes over the Magic Kingdom.
  • What about a stroll along the boardwalk – Disney’s Boardwalk Inn that is.  You’ll find dining, drinks and entertainment for the entire family.
  • Visit Beaches and Cream at Disney’s Beach Club Resort.  Let the group share a “Kitchen Sink”.

  • Finally – Turn in early!  If you get to bed early you’ll be able to rise early and hit the parks for rope drop.  First ones through the gates experience less wait times for rides and attractions and during warmer months they’ll enjoy cooler temperatures.

Africa at DisneySouth African wildlife

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of Walt Disney World’s Deluxe resorts.  The South African wildlife theme of the resort is breathtaking, from the large mud fireplace to the thatched ceilings, real African artifacts and the African music playing softly in the background.  And let’s not forget about the animals roaming the grounds- zebras, giraffes, ostrich, flamingos, greater kudu, impalas, white-bearded wildebeest, Thomson’s gazelle and more!  There are over 200 animals and 30 different species of wildlife that roam four tropical savannas.

You will have an opportunity to see the exotic animals from special alcoves throughout the resort as well as from balconies of the Savanna View rooms!  That’s right… you can wake up in the morning, open your balcony door, and have a cup of coffee while watching giraffes or zebras wandering around right outside your room!  There are Safari Guides at the outside viewing areas to answer questions and share information about the animals.  A special activity offered at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is night vision goggles to watch the animals roaming the savannas when it is dark out.  The animals truly are amazing and make a stay at this resort a once in a lifetime experience.

Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside

August 28, 2012

Located along the Sassagoula River, Port Orleans is actually 1 large property, divided into 2 distinct sections.  Port Orleans Riverside, designed to feel like Louisiana and the old south, with beautiful antebellum mansions and bayou buildings representing the sleepy towns along the Mississippi River.  It is a gorgeous sprawling romantic resort.

Port Orleans Riverside itself is divided into two sections. The Mansions section and Alligator Bayou. Port Orleans Riverside recently underwent a complete renovation of the entire resort.  All of the guest rooms here now have either 2 queen beds or 1 king bed.  Double sinks in the vanity area, new shower stalls and new furniture including flat panel TVs and mini refrigerators.

Magnolia Bend resembles the grand manor homes of southern plantations with their grand staircases and stately white columns surrounded by azaleas and magnolias. There are four three-story individually-styled mansion buildings; Acadian House, Magnolia Terrace, Oak Manor and Parterre Place. Each building consists of a central three-story structure and four two-story wings. The elevators are located in the central part of the three-story sections, next to the main entrance.
