Today the spotlight shines on Laura Long, from Maryland

Name: Laura Long

Where are you from? I grew up in New Jersey and now live with my family in Maryland.

First memory of Disney? Riding in the front car of the monorail with the conductor and my Mom, Dad & Brother as a kid – it was so special!

What makes Disney MAGICAL in your eyes? Every visit to a Disney destination makes me feel like a kid again – and that never gets old!

Favorite Disney destination and why? Tough question! I have 2 – The Magic Kingdom because I can relive my childhood memories through my children’s eyes when they light up with excitement from some of the same experiences I had as a child – truly priceless! The other is EPCOT. I have great memories of EPCOT with my family and will always be able to sing EPCOT’s soundtrack thanks to my Mom & Dad buying it on a trip in the 80’s!

Favorite Disney Character and why? Tigger, always had a soft spot for him!

Disney characters

Favorite Disney Attraction and why? Pirates of the Caribbean because it is a classic that has been updated, and is one of the lengthier rides!

Favorite Disney Resort and why? I love the Wilderness Lodge for many reasons – it’s a beautiful resort, in a fantastic location near Magic Kingdom, and it gives you the sense of being away from it all when you’re only a short boat ride away from all the magic!

Favorite Disney Restaurant and why? Hands down Ohana’s at the Polynesian Resort- the food is superb, great view of Magic Kingdom and the kids always love it!

book a Disney vacation

Favorite Disney Quick Service Restaurant and why? I love the food at Sunshine Seasons inside The Land in Epcot. It is always so fresh (some of it comes from The Land) and it is a great location to grab a quick bite before heading to the next attraction!

3 Disney characters you’d like to have dinner with and why? Goofy for laughter, Jiminy Cricket for life lessons and Captain Jack Sparrow for love!

Favorite Disney snack and why? A dole whip from Aloha Isle because it’s delicious!

Favorite Disney Movie and why? Pirates of the Caribbean The Curse of the Black Pearl because I love Pirates & Johnny Depp.

book a Disney vacation

3 Favorite Disney Song and why? “AMERICA” from EPCOTS The American Adventure because it is a very powerful song. “Dream Come True” – a great memory of my family riding as the Grand Marshalls of the Magic Kingdom’s Dream Come True parade in 2011. Yo Ho, Yo Ho A Pirates Life for Me because I can’t get enough of it!

Disney character you’re most similar to and why? I would have to say Daisy because I love flowers & have a green thumb.

Disney characters

If you could be one Disney mascot for a day who would it be and why? It would be very special to be Cinderella for a day!

Best part about being a MickeyTravels Disney Travel Agent? We are a special team dedicated to making our client’s Disney dreams come true!

1900 Park Fare

September 6, 2012

Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

If you would like to dine with some of Disney’s famous characters and enjoy some wonderful food, I have the place for you!  1900 Park Fare restaurant is located in Walt Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. It offers breakfast and dinner Character buffets in an enchanting atmosphere.  The restaurant is decorated in Victorian era fair, with carousel horses and pastel colors.  “Big Bertha,” a large concert organ built in France, is mounted towards the ceiling of the large dining room and plays music while you are dining.

The Supercalifragilistic Breakfast is one of our favorite meals of every trip.  Your family will be joined by Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter, Tigger, and Winnie the Pooh.  Every character will come by your table at 1900 Park Fare to greet and welcome you.

There is a huge variety of breakfast foods, including, but not limited to pastries, breads, yogurt, fruit, eggs, made to order omelets, bacon, sausage, ham, cheesy scrambled eggs, lobster eggs benedict, potatoes… and my personal favorites, Mickey waffles and the chilled strawberry soup.  Make sure you are really hungry before you go to your breakfast at 1900 Park Fare because the options are plentiful and the food is delicious!

Cinderella’s Happily Ever After dinner is another great option for a Character meal.  While savoring your delectable dinner, you will have some magical moments with Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, and the evil stepsisters Anastasia and Drisella.  Don’t be surprised if you also see the Fairy Godmother or Suzy and Perla the mischievous mice.  You will definitely want to have your camera ready.

Your dinner at 1900 Park Fare will include, but again will not be limited to, salad, fruit, soup (chilled strawberry soup will be one of them- don’t miss it!), mashed potatoes, salmon, broccoli, corn, macaroni and cheese, pasta, prime rib, chicken masala, tortellini, brownies/cookies, and ice cream.

1900 Park Fare also hosts the Wonderland Tea Party in the afternoon for kids ages 4 to 12.  Your children will be served a special tea (apple juice) to sip on while they enjoy games, stories and cupcakes.  Not only will your children be able to pose for pictures with Alice and Mad Hatter, they will also decorate their own cupcakes and create some imaginative take-home crafts.

Alice and Mad Hatter

It is a quick monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom to 1900 Park Fare, so I recommend making an Advanced Dining Reservation on a day you will be spending time at the Magic Kingdom.  Yes, that is right…You need to make this reservation early!

1900 Park Fare presents a whimsical dining experience with some classic Disney characters.  The food is great, but the Character interaction is priceless.

“Making Magic One Vacation at a Time…”

Ohana at Disney

August 23, 2012

Disney dining optionAloha, E Komo Mai!  Welcome to  ‘Ohana, my favorite table service restaurant at Walt Disney World.   A family style restaurant which offers an “all you can eat” dining option, ‘Ohana is the perfect location for a family gathering with delicious food and an amusing atmosphere.

‘Ohana is located on the second floor of the gorgeous Polynesian Resort at Walt Disney World.   It is a very convenient monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom.

For breakfast you are joined by Mickey, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch.  Before you are seated for your meal, you can take a family picture with your leis that are provided upon checking in.  On the way to your table, the waiter will pick up a basket of homemade pastries for you.   The pineapple bread is amazing.  Once you are seated, you will be served scrambled eggs, friend potatoes, sausage, bacon, fruit, juice and the infamous Mickey waffles.  Your children will have an opportunity to hula dance around the room in a kanga line to “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride,” the theme song from Lilo and Stitch.  All the characters come by to visit at ‘Ohana, so make sure to have your camera ready.
