Name: Natalie Connell

Where are you from?  Thomasville, GA

First memory of Disney?  Although my first trip to Disney was for the Grand Opening of the Magic Kingdom, I was a little young for those memories. One of my first memories is a few years later sitting on the curb along Main Street in the Magic Kingdom and watching in awe the Electrical Light Parade. My father loved the parade so much that he bought the soundtrack (an album!) to the Electrical Light Parade so we could enjoy the music at home.

What makes Disney MAGICAL in your eyes? There are so many things I love at about Disney! First, no one does customer service like Disney.  From exceptional Cast Members, beautiful costuming, magical shows and entertainment, and creative theming and design, Disney holds the bar high for how service should be delivered. Second, there is something truly magical watching fairytales and stories come alive through the eyes of your child.

Favorite Disney destination and why?  Walt Disney World is definitely my favorite Disney destination! I love all the rides, shows and recreational opportunities that are offered throughout the parks and resorts.

Favorite Disney Character and why?  Pluto! Pluto has been my favorite for as long as I can remember. I’m a dog lover and I can’t help but love this silly pup!

Favorite Disney Attraction and why?  Space Mountain! This is the first roller coaster I can remember riding and the fact that you are riding in the dark makes it extra fun!

Favorite Disney Resort and why? I love the beauty and majestic appearance of the Grand Floridian. My family and I love going there even if we are staying elsewhere and we especially love the beautiful tree and the Gingerbread House during the Christmas season.

Favorite Disney Restaurant and why?  My favorite restaurant is Chef Mickey! I love getting to interact with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto!

Chef Mickeys Restaurant

Favorite Disney Quick Service Restaurant and why?  My family enjoys Harbor House in the Magic Kingdom. I like the variety of food, quieter location and when my child walked up to the counter with her Happy Birthday button on all the Cast Members sang to her!

3 Disney characters you’d like to have dinner with and why? I would love to have dinner with Pluto, of course, and Mickey and Cinderella. These are three of my childhood favorites

Favorite Disney snack and why? I love the huge cinnamon rolls at Gaston’s Tavern.

Favorite Disney Movie and why?  Ariel is my favorite Disney movie because I have my own little red-headed princess!

3 Favorite Disney Songs and why?  Beauty and the Beast: Tale as Old as Time, Lion King: Circle of Life, Frozen: Let it Go

Disney character you’re most similar to and why? Like Cinderella, I eagerly awaited for my Prince Charming!

The new home for visiting royalty in the Magic Kingdom, Princess Fairytale Hall features walls of stone and stained glass windows, a spacious gallery adorned with portraits of Disney princesses and elegantly finished rooms where guests can meet Cinderella, Rapunzel and other princesses. Part of the largest Magic Kingdom expansion in history, Princess Fairytale Hall is located in the Castle Courtyard in the center of Fantasyland at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. If you could be one Disney mascot for a day who would it be and why? I think it would be exciting to be Cinderella for a day. I love seeing how little ones light up when they see there favorite princess.

If you could work at one of the Disney theme parks, what job would you want and why? I would love to be one of the Cast Members that accompany Mickey Mouse so that I see the joy on everyone’s faces as they interact with this special character.

1900 Park Fare

September 6, 2012

Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

If you would like to dine with some of Disney’s famous characters and enjoy some wonderful food, I have the place for you!  1900 Park Fare restaurant is located in Walt Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. It offers breakfast and dinner Character buffets in an enchanting atmosphere.  The restaurant is decorated in Victorian era fair, with carousel horses and pastel colors.  “Big Bertha,” a large concert organ built in France, is mounted towards the ceiling of the large dining room and plays music while you are dining.

Mary Poppins at Disney

The Supercalifragilistic Breakfast is one of our favorite meals of every trip.  Your family will be joined by Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter, Tigger, and Winnie the Pooh.  Every character will come by your table at 1900 Park Fare to greet and welcome you.

There is a huge variety of breakfast foods, including, but not limited to pastries, breads, yogurt, fruit, eggs, made to order omelets, bacon, sausage, ham, cheesy scrambled eggs, lobster eggs benedict, potatoes… and my personal favorites, Mickey waffles and the chilled strawberry soup.  Make sure you are really hungry before you go to your breakfast at 1900 Park Fare because the options are plentiful and the food is delicious!

Cinderella’s Happily Ever After dinner is another great option for a Character meal.  While savoring your delectable dinner, you will have some magical moments with Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, and the evil stepsisters Anastasia and Drisella.  Don’t be surprised if you also see the Fairy Godmother or Suzy and Perla the mischievous mice.  You will definitely want to have your camera ready.

Your dinner at 1900 Park Fare will include, but again will not be limited to, salad, fruit, soup (chilled strawberry soup will be one of them- don’t miss it!), mashed potatoes, salmon, broccoli, corn, macaroni and cheese, pasta, prime rib, chicken masala, tortellini, brownies/cookies, and ice cream.

1900 Park Fare also hosts the Wonderland Tea Party in the afternoon for kids ages 4 to 12.  Your children will be served a special tea (apple juice) to sip on while they enjoy games, stories and cupcakes.  Not only will your children be able to pose for pictures with Alice and Mad Hatter, they will also decorate their own cupcakes and create some imaginative take-home crafts.

It is a quick monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom to 1900 Park Fare, so I recommend making an Advanced Dining Reservation on a day you will be spending time at the Magic Kingdom.  Yes, that is right…You need to make this reservation early!

1900 Park Fare presents a whimsical dining experience with some classic Disney characters.  The food is great, but the Character interaction is priceless.

“Making Magic One Vacation at a Time…”

Disney Character Dining

September 5, 2012

Whether it’s a first trip or an annual tradition, when it comes to Walt Disney World, a character meal is almost always on the horizon.  Let’s face it – Disney Character Dining a fantastic way to enjoy a meal while having some face time with Mickey and the gang.  But which meal, and where?

character meal

One of the most popular Disney Character Dining choices is always breakfast or dinner at Chef Mickey’s in the Contemporary resort.  You get the big five (Mickey and Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto) dressed in chef whites while at the same time enjoying one of the legendary buffets, a highly entertaining floor show, AND it’s all just steps away from Magic Kingdom.  The downsides to this particular meal?  Longer than average wait times, whether you’ve got reservations or not – and this is one of the meals that fills up practically the moment it opens for reservations; also, it’s a very crowded, busy establishment and just not, well, magic in the way of atmosphere.  But a little bonus is that your family’s photo is taken upon entry and you have the option to buy the photos before you leave.

Another big hit for Disney Character Dining is Crystal Palace on Magic Kingdom’s Main Street USA, where Pooh and friends (Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet) play host to breakfast, lunch or dinner and what’s truly a fantastic buffet no matter which meal you choose.  The atmosphere is much more “magical” here than Chef Mickey due to the beautiful surroundings and table visits from the characters.  Price is about the same, and here’s a secret benefit: breakfast reservations can be booked even earlier than the park opens, so guests are allowed in to a practically empty Magic Kingdom and that makes for fantastic photo opps!
