Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor

June 3, 2014

On our recent trip to Walt Disney World, we woke up early on our first day, arrived at the Magic Kingdom at rope drop, and eagerly headed towards Fantasyland. This was our kids’ first trip to Disney World and we were excited to start exploring the rides and attractions and soak it all in with them. By noon, we were hot and tired, and as we rounded the corner into Tomorrowland, we spotted the building for Stitch’s Great Escape (which can be slightly terrifying for young ones) and the building which used to house The Timekeeper, which now displayed a sign reading Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor.

Disney Stitch’s Great Escape

Being that my kids are Monster’s Inc. fans, and given the fact that this show provided a place to sit in an air conditioned theater, I decided that the Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor was worth checking out. This attraction really surprised me and I soon discovered that it was a total delight for both children and adults (in fact I’d argue I might’ve enjoyed it even more than my children did).

Upon entering, there is a short pre-show movie during which audience members can text in jokes that may be used later in the show. Once inside the theater, guests experience a new type of attraction in a live, unscripted show. Using technology similar to the Turtle Talk with Crush attraction in Epcot, guests get to actually interact with the one and only Mike Wazowski, the MC for the show. The premise behind the show is that laughter creates power. The audience must fill a laugh meter to open the theater’s exit doors. Multiple cameras located throughout the theater spotlight audience members on the big screens at the front of the theater, with silly captions underneath. This hilarious aspect of the show was the funniest for me as I watched unsuspecting guests (including myself) suddenly appear on-screen. By the end of the show (spoiler alert) the laugh canister is filled and the exit doors open. I didn’t want the show to be over!

Disney Monster's Inc

I wasn’t sure what to expect going in, but I was so pleasantly surprised by this interactive show that I actually called our family members who were traveling with us and told them that they had to check out the Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor. I love the direction that Walt Disney World is going with the technology it employs on rides and in shows, and can’t wait to see what they come up with next!

The Show Not To Miss- Disney’s Fantasmic!

April 25, 2014

If you have been to Walt Disney World before (or maybe even if you haven’t), you know there is an abundance of live entertainment, restaurants, rides and attractions offered to you; for your enjoyment. So much so that it is impossible to be able to see everything over the course of one visit. That is part of what makes Disney amazing. There is always something new to see and enjoy!

With that being said, there are still just a handful of things that I call “staples” of my trip. These are the things that I will not miss out on experiencing, if at all possible,. One of those things is catching my very favorite show, on property! That show would be Fantasmic! It is located in Hollywood Studios; in the outdoor amphitheatre, near the entrance to Beauty and The Beast LIVE on Stage, on Sunset Blvd.

Cruella de Vil Disney

Fantasmic! brings you into Mickey’s imagination as he becomes the sorcerer’s apprentice. He is joined by many of his friends from beloved Disney films. However, his dream quickly turns in to a nightmare as villains such as Maleficient, the evil queen from Snow White, Cruella de Vil, Scar and more come on the scene! This thrilling show allows you to watch as Mickey uses his imagination to defeat these villains.

The show is full of fun and surprises, using pyrotechnics, lasers, one million gallons of dancing water and more than 50 costumed performers to bring Mickey’s dream in to life. This is surely a show that will not disappoint!

Maleficient

To make this experience even more interactive, you can purchase “Glow With The Show” Mickey ears! You become part of the show as your Mickey ears glow right along, with Fantasmic! One other option, to maximize your experience is to plan ahead and make your Fantasmic! Dining reservations at one of 3 Hollywood Studios restaurants (Hollywood & Vine, Brown Derby or Mama Melorse). Choosing to do the Fantasmic! Dining package allows you preferred seating, front and center to the stage! Just don’t forget, you will still want to arrive 45 mins early for the show, to get your favorite spot! Don’t worry about what to do with the kids, by arriving that early! Disney has you covered! There is a fun pre-show time, where the Cast Members will keep you laughing and entertained.

So, if you are planning your Walt Disney World vacation, email me and I will get to work,  on what will surely be, an unforgettable time with your family (and Mickey)! I know you will love Fantasmic! as much as I do. From the words of Walt Disney “Laughter is timeless, Imagination has no age, and dreams are forever.” All of those things you are sure to experience, through your time, visiting “The Happiest Place on Earth” and I can’t wait to help get you there!
