Animal Kingdom Lodge (Jambo House) — A Resort Review

February 28, 2012

Disney has some great resorts in every price category, but today’s blog post is going to focus on our family’s favorite—the Animal Kingdom Lodge.  It is a deluxe level resort, but with a price that usually falls between that of the moderate resorts and the other deluxe resorts.  In fact, the Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge have many similarities, one of them being that they are the least expensive deluxe resorts on property.  But, I feel that even if the price were as high as other Disney deluxe resorts, it’d still be worth the price!

African Theme Resort at Disney

The first thing you notice when you enter Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is its expansive and impressive lobby!  The resort has a beautiful African theme throughout and the lobby has so many pieces of art, bits of storytelling, and tons of charm.  There is even a small fire pit right in the lobby area.  And as you gaze through the giant window across from you, you can already catch glimpses of wildlife!

The Polynesian Resort at Walt Disney World

One of the most beautiful resorts on Walt Disney World property is the Polynesian Resort.  Disney’s Polynesian resort is located on the monorail to the Magic Kingdom and is one of my favorite resorts on property.

It is themed after the South Pacific and Hawaii and is as authentic as you could get.  You can actually lose yourself in its beauty and forget for a minute that you are at Walt Disney World and not in the Hawaiian islands themselves.  With the lush foliage and exotic birds, there are perfect picture spots at every turn.  My favorite thing has to be at night, when they light the tiki torches that line the passageways leading to all of the buildings that house the Polynesian resort rooms.  Each of these 2 and 3 story buildings is named after a South Pacific island and are nestled within the grounds of this tropical paradise.

The Great Ceremonial House is the main building of the Polynesian Resort where you check in, can find your concierge services as well as 2 table-service restaurants, a quick-service restaurant and great shops.  The Kona Café is on the 2nd floor as well as the very-popular ‘Ohana, which has a wonderful character breakfast each morning.   We cannot forget to mention the Spirit of Aloha Polynesian Luau which has been a favorite of guests for many years.  This is a 2-hour dinner show that is so close to the real thing, you may forget that you are not actually in Hawaii at an authentic luau.

The Richard Petty Driving Experience at Walt Disney World

February 24, 2012

My family and I recently returned from a very memorable and amazing Walt Disney World vacation.  It was my 5 year old son’s first time there and it was so emotional and exciting for us to see “The World” through his eyes.  He loved just about everything we saw and did.  He talks about the trip every day and different things we did that pop into his head throughout the day.  It was incredible for all of us.  The adults on this trip also had a memorable experience that none of us will ever forget.  My husband, Dad, Step dad and myself all went to the Richard Petty Driving Experience.
