Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor

June 3, 2014

On our recent trip to Walt Disney World, we woke up early on our first day, arrived at the Magic Kingdom at rope drop, and eagerly headed towards Fantasyland. This was our kids’ first trip to Disney World and we were excited to start exploring the rides and attractions and soak it all in with them. By noon, we were hot and tired, and as we rounded the corner into Tomorrowland, we spotted the building for Stitch’s Great Escape (which can be slightly terrifying for young ones) and the building which used to house The Timekeeper, which now displayed a sign reading Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor.

Disney Stitch’s Great Escape

Being that my kids are Monster’s Inc. fans, and given the fact that this show provided a place to sit in an air conditioned theater, I decided that the Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor was worth checking out. This attraction really surprised me and I soon discovered that it was a total delight for both children and adults (in fact I’d argue I might’ve enjoyed it even more than my children did).

Upon entering, there is a short pre-show movie during which audience members can text in jokes that may be used later in the show. Once inside the theater, guests experience a new type of attraction in a live, unscripted show. Using technology similar to the Turtle Talk with Crush attraction in Epcot, guests get to actually interact with the one and only Mike Wazowski, the MC for the show. The premise behind the show is that laughter creates power. The audience must fill a laugh meter to open the theater’s exit doors. Multiple cameras located throughout the theater spotlight audience members on the big screens at the front of the theater, with silly captions underneath. This hilarious aspect of the show was the funniest for me as I watched unsuspecting guests (including myself) suddenly appear on-screen. By the end of the show (spoiler alert) the laugh canister is filled and the exit doors open. I didn’t want the show to be over!

Disney Monster's Inc

I wasn’t sure what to expect going in, but I was so pleasantly surprised by this interactive show that I actually called our family members who were traveling with us and told them that they had to check out the Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor. I love the direction that Walt Disney World is going with the technology it employs on rides and in shows, and can’t wait to see what they come up with next!

Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique

June 2, 2014

Every little princess must have a Fairy Godmother, am I right? Well, when you arrive at the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique that is exactly who is waiting for you…your daughter’s very own Fairy Godmother. Let me tell you, she will be ready to put her magic wand and pixie dust to use, transforming your little girl into a radiant princess (simply making into a reality what we she already knows to be true- that she IS a princess).

Disney for kids

This one of a kind experience is truly one you will want to make sure you make time for. The Fairy Godmothers are amazing, funny, sweet and all around adorable! Your little princess will be on cloud 9 as she is given the royal treatment. Cinderella herself even gets ready for her busy day right there, in the Boutique. On our last trip, my youngest princess even had her makeover in the same chair, that Cinderella was in, that very same morning.

Upon arriving, you will choose which Royal Package you would like for your princess to receive.

There are 3 options to choose from:

Coach Package: Including hairstyle and shimmering makeup
Price beginning at $49.95 plus tax

Crown Package: Including hairstyle, shimmering makeup, and nails
Price beginning at $54.95 plus tax

Castle Package: Includes the Crown Package plus the Imaging Package (One 6×8” and Four 4×6” photos in a princess themed photo holder and complete costume of your choice with accessories.
Price beginning at $189.95 plus tax

Once you have selected your package you will be called back shortly, to meet your very own Fairy Godmother and she will begin her magic.

A photographer is right there making sure to get those precious shots of your little one’s transformation. Be sure to keep the tissues handy, you (and your husband) are sure to shed a tear or two as your daughter is doted upon and loving her makeover.

Part of the magic, with this experience, is that the little girls are facing away from the mirror the entire time. It isn’t until the Fairy Godmother is satisfied with her work that she will grab her magic wand (full of pixie dust) and sprinkle it over your daughter’s head, saying the magic words: “Bibbidy Bobbidy. Bibbidy Bobbidy. Bibbidy Bobbidy. Boo!” At that moment she will turn the chair around and your little belle of the ball is able to see herself for the first time. It is in that moment that you’ll need the tissues, for dad’s “allergies”, of course! It is truly very special. For the rest of the day, your princess, will enjoy her reign and walk with an extra glide in her step (she may even throw a curtsy in there as well).

Disney makeup and hairstyles

The reservations open up 180 days in advance. So, pre planning is key.

If you would like for me to help you turn this experience into a reality for the Princess(es) in your castle, I am more than happy to do so! Planning your perfectly magical Disney vacation is my joy and privilege.

Why Disney is the perfect “first vacation”

May 1, 2014

I think my OB said it perfectly, “once you have kids, you take trips not vacations”. All the parents out there know there is a lot more planning, gear, concerns, etc when traveling with children. Especially when it is their first vacation. Well in my sons first year, we went on both a Disney vacation and a beach vacation. We were shocked how much easier the Disney vacation was and I would love to pass this knowledge on to you. I want to focus on a few key points for parents to consider when planning their first vacation.

Car Seats

  • With Disney you do not need a car seat if you stay on property since you can use the FREE buses around the resort and the FREE Magical Express to and from the airport. This is one less thing to carry and frankly it is a bit refreshing to get a break from all that strapping and unstrapping.
  • For the beach, we opted to rent a car seat from the rental car company instead of bringing out own. (You can check them from free on many airlines but I was worried about getting it damaged and dirty with the beach). That as $60 for the week and it was very cheap and a nightmare to install. The rental companies will not install due to liability. I think I would take my own next time.

Sleeping arrangements

  • Disney offers FREE packnplays upon request. This is just wonderful. I always bring my own sheet and lysol it before using but still it is wonderful!
  • For the beach, we brought our own. It was not bad to bring, but it does count as a checked bag. My sister in law rented one and it was around $50. So no matter what you are probably going to pay unless your hotel provides one, which many do. We stayed at a beach house so it was not included.

Feeding arrangements

  • Disney is made for kids and they have high chairs everywhere! They are very accommodating to everyone and do a great job with kids and any special needs, restrictions, allergies, etc. My son had a milk allergy and Disney was amazing at handling it when we traveled.
  • The beach was not so easy. We had to bring a booster (another thing to carry) and then when going out many restaurants are not as kid friendly and honestly not many places are allergy or special diet friendly.

Toys/Entertainment

  • There is so much to do at the Disney resorts and parks that you really only need a few toys for the time you spend in your room. A lot less to pack.
  • For the beach vacation, there was definitely more down time which meant we needed to pack more toys.

With all that said, we had a great time on both vacations. However, Disney really made everything super easy. We needed a lot less gear, didn’t have to worry about transportation, etc.
