Top 10 Walt Disney World Attractions For Toddlers – #3 is a MUST do!

August 16, 2014 by MickeyTravels

Parents sometimes wonder if there are age-appropriate attractions for their toddlers to enjoy in Disney World. As the mother of a 2-year-old, I can assure you that there are so many fun activities to enjoy with your child! Here are my daughter’s top 10 favorite attractions in Disney World:

In Magic Kingdom —

  1. Dumbo the Flying Elephant: We’ve made so many fun memories at the Dumbo ride. Do NOT get a FastPass for this ride, or you’ll miss the awesome play area in the standby line. (Go early in the day, and you’ll enjoy short standby times.) You’ll receive a pager telling you when you can ride Dumbo, but you can stay and play in the play area even after your pager buzzes. Our daughter loves to play on the little fire engine and go down the slide in the toddler area, watch Dumbo fly overhead, launch pretend fireworks, and climb up the netted climbing areas. After she’s done playing, she loves to ride Dumbo and make him go up and down with our help.age-appropriate attractions for toddlers at Disney
  1. It’s a Small World: Our daughter asks for this ride by name. She loves to watch the dolls dancing and singing, point out all the animals, listen to the music, and relax on the boat while she cuddles up to mommy and daddy.
  1. Character Meet and Greets: If your toddler is fairly outgoing, this could be a highlight of his or her trip! Our daughter loves when a princess takes her by the hand and chats with her. She loves to get up close and admire the princess’ jewelry, hair and dress. She excitedly runs to Mickey Mouse, Tigger and Pooh and gives them hugs. The characters do a fantastic job of bringing their roles to life and staying “in character,” and our daughter is always enthralled by each character’s unique personality.FastPass
  1. Parades and Dance Parties: There’s something so wondrous about waving to Anna and Elsa as they glide by on their float in the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade. And there’s something so magical about waving to Mickey amongst the glittering lights and bubbly music of the Main Street Electrical Parade. Our daughter’s eyes are filled with so much joy and wonder when she watches the parades. If your child likes to dance, other fun street festivities include the Incredibles Super Dance Party and the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Street Party.
  1. Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel: Choose a stationary horse, a horse that moves up and down, or a chariot aboard the carrousel. Your child will love admiring the horses, listening to the gentle music, looking out at Cinderella Castle nearby, and maybe even imagining she’s a princess riding to her very own castle.age-appropriate attractions for toddlers at Disney
  1. Mickey’s PhilharMagic: Your younger toddler might need a little assistance keeping on his or her magical 3-D glasses, but for children who love animated Disney movies, this is a must-do attraction! Our daughter loves to reach out and try to “grab” her favorite Disney characters and enchanted objects that seem to pop out from the screen, and she enjoys hearing the familiar tunes of the beloved Disney classics.

In Epcot

  1. The Seas With Nemo & Friends and Turtle Talk With Crush: Ride a clamobile and “swim” with Nemo and friends into a real aquarium! There are a few scary fish and sharks on your journey into the aquarium, so if you think your child might be frightened, skip the ride and head straight into the pavilion. Once inside, your toddler will be delighted by dolphins, turtles, fish, sharks, rays and more. Turtle Talk With Crush is a fun, interactive Q & A with Crush that will have the preschool- and elementary-aged set giggling with glee.

In Hollywood Studios

  1. Disney Junior — Live On Stage: If your child loves Jake, Sofia, Doc McStuffins and/or Mickey and Friends, then he/she is in for a real treat at this stage show! Our daughter is completely captivated by the lifelike, puppet characters and familiar tunes from her favorite Disney Junior shows.Character Meet and Greets
  1. Honey, I Shrunk The Kids Movie Set Adventure: Though toddlers will need help navigating some areas of this large-scale play area, they will love climbing, crawling, splashing and giggling their way through the props and play structures.

In Animal Kingdom

  1. The Boneyard: This may be our daughter’s favorite spot in all of Disney World. Though she needs help navigating some areas of this play place, she loves to explore every nook and cranny. Her favorite activity is digging in the “sand” and filling up the provided plastic buckets in the Boneyard’s fossil dig site. Parents will love that the “sand” brushes off easily and won’t stick to your child’s clothes! The Boneyard

Explore off the beaten path, and you’ll find even more wonderful play spots that toddlers love. Check out the wonderful play areas near Splash mountain, in the Winnie The Pooh queue, in ImageWorks after the Journey Into Imagination With Figment ride and at Space Base near Mission Space. Children who love to splash will love the Casey Jr. Splash ’N’ Soak Station, and more daring explorers will enjoy Tom Sawyer’s Island.

What attractions are you eager to explore with your toddler? Does your little one have any favorite attractions that aren’t on this list?
