Want to make a visit to the far reaches of the African savannah while still being on the east coast without having to take a long flight?  Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge takes you on the African safari that rivals Adventure Land.  In this case, however, the Animal Kingdom Lodge does not have audio animatronic animals.  This hotel has brought you ”live” animals for you to experience the magic of being personally up and close to them.

Put on that safari hat because you are now in Africa – at the Animal Kingdom Lodge!  This amazing hotel has become famous for having this special exhibit of encountering these beautiful animals.  From giraffes to zebras, animals of different species greet you in the morning as you drink your warm cup of coffee out on the balcony of your room.

Each hotel room at the Animal Kingdom Lodge is styled to the African theme.  Woven baskets serve as the ”portraits” on the walls; colorful patterns are sewn onto bed sheets and chairs.  From noticing your room, you will see that brown plays a dominant role in color since many items such as the headboards and tables are in that color.  The attention to African art in detail is amazing which makes craftsmanship a unique trait.

The standard rooms at the Animal Kingdom Lodge usually contain two queen beds with a shower, two sinks, mini fridge, closet, among other features.  You might want to check your closet twice just to make sure you don’t have a herd of zebras or a giraffe in there!  With Disney magic and the African savannah, anything is possible!  If you go to the lobby, maybe you and the family can play some trivia games.  See those colorful animal tiles behind the receptionist desk?  Why not play a game at guessing what are animals?  It’s like the Animal Kingdom version of Guess Who or another game you are familiar with.

Another special feature of this hotel is the lobby bridge which looks like an ordinary ”crosswalk” from one side of the floor level to the other.  The neat effect of this ”crosswalk” is that it has been made to look like an actual bridge.  And for those who are afraid of heights, don’t worry.  This bridge will not force you to hold on to the side supports and wiggle you left and right unlike unsteady bridges out there!  We don’t want this bridge to tear in half!

Outside of the hotel there is a giant pool with a slide for you to go on and for the little ones there is even a small playground for them to play on.  The Animal Kingdom Lodge serves to give you the African culture.  In Africa many animals of precious species exist, even the ones that are endangered.  These animals depend on us and we must work with the community to make sure that these animals can continue to thrive in the animal kingdom for many generations.  So when you are watching that morning sun rise as you enjoy your coffee, just believe that every animal is valuable to the environment itself.  At Animal Kingdom Lodge, you become a student of conservation as part of the Disney magic.
