How to Accessorize at Disney World

March 9, 2012 by MickeyTravels

Walt Disney World is one of those places where you can get away with and even get complimented on wearing fun accessories that you would otherwise get some pretty sideways stares.  Not only do these items make great conversation starters with other guests in line, but also look amazing in photos.  Every theme park has shirts and other apparel you can buy, but Disney truly takes it to the next level.  I personally love this aspect of Disney and would love to share with you some of my favorite Disney accessories!

Pins!  I love these things!  They are just a simple push pin and can be affixed to anything but the most popular option is definitely the Disney lanyards.   Not only can you buy pins in the parks, but you can also trade with other guests and CastMembers!  Between buying and trading, guests tend to have a diverse collection that they are truly proud of.  I personally like to have my lanyards themed and I have a Tinkerbell lanyard, a Christmas Lanyard, and a Miscellaneous Pin Lanyard.  It is also fun to get pins from various Disney destinations or from events.  I have pins from Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and the Disney Cruise Line.  I also have some Cast Member only pins from when I worked there.  Click here to learn more about Disney Pin Trading!

Ears (and hats)!  Who doesn’t feel the nostalgia of their first trip to WDW when looking at a basic pair of Mickey Ears?  These are a staple for first time visitors and also a popular souvenir item.  You can even have them personalized with your name at the Magic Kingdom!  If you are looking for something a little more unique than the ears, you will find an abundance of character, seasonal, and just plain fun hats to wear at Disney.  I have to say I had some fun wearing my oversized Tinkerbell stocking cap in the winter.  Click here to look at some fun hat options for your next trip!

Designer purses!  What girl doesn’t like to sport a designer bag?  Why not get a Disney themed purse, especially when traveling to a Disney destination?  Dooney & Bourke has multiple bags made exclusively for the WDW resort!  There are various patterns and styles suited for tweens, teens, and adults.  I personally have the princess wristlet and use it as a wallet every day.
