The Disney Fantasy Cruise

March 7, 2012 by MickeyTravels

It is always an exciting time when Disney decides to continue growing and expanding as a company.  Now, they are launching their 4th cruise ship that will be setting sail on its maiden voyage at the end of this month.  This new addition has been named the Disney Fantasy and is nothing short of its namesake.  It is full of grandeur and fantasy for all who are fortunate enough to sail on her.

Disney Fantasy Cruising

I was given a very wonderful opportunity to take a private tour of this magnificent ship and while my expectations were quite high, they were surpassed and exceeded.   As I saw her in the water, I stood in awe of this ship and the beauty that was in front of me.   The Disney Fantasy is the sister-ship to the Disney Dream, for those of you who have had the good fortune to sail on her.  The Fantasy has kept so many of the wonderful attributes that the Dream has, but has added some wonderful additions as well.  This ship is a 130,000 ton vessel and offers 14 towering decks, 1,250 staterooms and is 1,115 feet in total length and 125 feet wide at its maximum width.   Pretty amazing!

Building on the classic style of the previous ships, the Disney Magic, the Disney Wonder and the Disney Dream, the Disney Fantasy is a majestic sailing vessel where early 20th-century design—recalling the golden age of cruising—meets state-of-the-art technology. This ship is designed with families in mind, combining sleek style and convenient facilities with splashes of Disney magic.  There are Disney details at every turn.  From the “Hidden Mickey’s” to the Cinderella coach-shaped bread basket in the Royal Court dining room, they have it covered.

Guests are instantly transported to an age of adventure and wonder, where elegance and sophistication mingle with Disney storytelling and whimsy. Inside is an attention to detail one would only expect from Disney, including lavish decorative murals, sparkling fixtures and furnishings and themed venues that go beyond the imagination of kids and adults alike.   There is something for every age, from the kids clubs, tween areas and of course adults-only pools and clubs.  If you can’t find something for every age on this ship, you are in trouble.  The addition of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique blew me away at first site.  Wow!

Disney Cruise Activities

Dining options aboard the Disney Fantasy include elegant adults-only dining, gourmet Main Dining delights and mouthwatering made-to-order casual fare—in delightfully themed restaurants.  The restaurants range from The Enchanted Garden to the whimsical Animator’s Palate and the breathtaking Royal Court where mosaic scenes of our beloved Disney princesses surround you.  Of course the ever-famous Palo and Remy are also exquisite dining options for the adults who are looking for some 5-star dining options.

If you thought the Disney cruise ships were only for kids, think again.  There is so much to experience at any age and doing it through a product of the Disney imagineers, is a true privilege.  Do not miss out on this magnificent cruise ship built on fantasy and imagination.

Bon Voyage!
