Disney Moderate Resorts – A Great Choice

February 23, 2012 by MickeyTravels

After looking over the Value resorts you may decide you want a little more space, a more relaxed atmosphere and a few more amenities.  The Disney Moderate Resorts could be for your family.  With some rooms having space for up to 6 people, beautifully decorated surroundings and table service restaurants this could be the place for your family to enjoy.

The Disney moderate resort category has 5 different hotels to choose from: Disney’s Port Orleans-French Quarter, Disney’s Port Orleans-Riverside, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Coronado Springs, and The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness all offer wonderfully affordable locales.  Let’s take a look and see which resort best fits your family.

Disney Port Orleans-French Quarter

At Disney’s Port Orleans-French Quarter you’ll feel like you’ve stepped right into the French Quarter of New Orleans.  You’ll find cobblestone walkways, wrought iron balconies, smooth jazz music and the sweet smell of magnolias very relaxing after a busy day in the parks.  Enjoy American and Creole food in the food court or find live entertainment at Scat Cat’s Lounge.

Disney’s Port Orleans-Riverside still gives you the feel of Louisiana but the rural side of the state.  Be surrounded by the tranquility of the Louisiana Bayou as you enjoy the hospitality of a picturesque waterfront Resort hotel that embodies the traditions born of steamboat travel, formal garden parties, and mint juleps on the front porch. Take a romantic carriage ride down a shady lane, dine on delicious Southern favorites or simply sit back and relax and let the cool waters of the Sassagoula River glide by.  Scheduled to open in February of 2012 are the new royal guest rooms.   Enjoy magnificent touches and magical surprises, including custom drapes and linens, ornately decorated beds— and headboards that glitter with fiber optic lights, creating your own personal “fireworks” display. Discover majesty and fun, all rolled into one!

Looking for something a little more “tropical” then Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is the Disney Moderate Resort for you!  Enjoy the beaches, exotic birds, relaxing strolls or even a snooze in a hammock. All Resort Guest rooms are arranged into 6 villages—Trinidad North, Trinidad South, Martinique, Barbados, Aruba and Jamaica—spread over 200 lushly landscaped acres. Each village is a welcoming collection of pastel-colored 2-story buildings clustered around its own swimming pool, all surrounding the white-sand beaches of Barefoot Bay. The Marina rents a variety of watercraft—from sailboats and pontoon boats to a canoe for two. Walk the landscaped paths, take a bike ride or soak up some fun at the sprawling pool complex themed like an old Spanish fortress—complete with towers, antique cannons and a waterslide. Your crew can choose to stay in a specially-decorated Pirate Room, where you can become a character aboard a pretend galleon! Perfect for swashbucklers and scallywags alike, each room features ship-themed beds and accessories to please every buccaneer.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida is an American Southwest-themed Resort hotel set on a 22-acre lake that invokes the spirit and romance of Spanish-colonial Mexico.  From the welcoming spring-fed Fountain of the Doves to the hidden treasures of the Mayan-ruin themed Dig Site pool, escape to a tranquil lakeside vacation destination where relaxation is your reward. A serene atmosphere infuses the Guest rooms, conference facilities, shops, restaurants and cantinas, inspired by faraway places where time goes by just a little bit slower than usual.

Disney Moderate Resorts

Another Disney Moderate Resort, the Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida offer an American Frontier theme amid the luxuries of home on 700-plus acres.   Each cabin is approximately 500 square feet and features recent updates like fresh paint and new carpeting, furniture and fixtures. All cabins have one bedroom, one full bath, living area, private patio, charcoal grill, picnic table and a fully equipped kitchen. Housekeeping even does your dishes!

You will find comfort and convenience in any of the Disney moderate resorts should you make one of these your choice of hotels during your Walt Disney World visit.  But if you want to go all out for luxury accomodations check back later as we discover the Deluxe Resort category!
